Ms. St. Lifer was born in New York City and grew up in Summit, NJ. She is the daughter of devoted art collectors of American paintings and became interested in art as a young girl. After graduating from Syracuse University with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art, she attended the Collectors Institute in New York City, then headed by Barbara Gladstone. She received her Masters in Art Education from the New Jersey City State University. She holds a Certificate in Appraisal Studies from George Washington University.

In the late 1970s, Jane started her career in Western American Art with Trailside Galleries in Jackson, WY and later their Scottsdale, AZ location. She returned to New York City to work with 20th century prints and ran the LeRoy Neiman department at the Hammer Galleries.

In the mid-1980s, she became involved in the Impressionist market at Gallery Urban, New York, NY and Tokyo, Japan. In 1988 she established her firm in her hometown of Summit, NJ and then moved to the Financial District in Lower Manhattan. On Wall Street, Jane managed her art office and became director of the Digital Sandbox Gallery, owned by the Rudin Real Estate Corporation.

Throughout the 1990s, Ms. St. Lifer spent time in the UK consulting for private clients. She authenticated paintings by Jean Renoir, Camille Pissaro, and Asger Jorn and helped recover a George Luks painting for the FBI.

After 9/11, Ms. St. Lifer moved her art offices to the Upper West Side. In 2008, she was the Production Coordinator for the Will Barnet Catalogue Raisonne of Prints, 1931-2005. Today she works with private collectors, international artists, and corporate institutions. She is passionate about art, cooking, and dogs.
